1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, toddler, or pre-schooler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books (you can repeat books) before your child starts Kindergarten. You have more time than you think to accomplish this goal, but you should get started!

Studies have shown that reading with your child provides a great opportunity for bonding. Reading together is fun and will create life-long memories for both of you.

Using READsquared for this program will help you keep track of the titles you've read. It will also help us know when to reward your child for completing milestones on the way to 1,000 books and for completing the program.

Enrollment can begin at any time and for any child not yet in Kindergarten, and you can complete the program at your own pace.

500 Books Before Middle School

The concept of the program is simple: read a book, any book, and have fun! The goal is to read 500 books before your child starts middle school (and yes, you can repeat books). If you read 2 books a week, you will have read 104 books in a year. That is 208 books in two years and 312 books in three years! You have more time than you think to read 500 Books Before Middle School!

Enrollment can begin at any time and for any child not yet in Middle School, and you can complete the program at your own pace!

We'll offer small rewards for milestones throughout the challenge, and every child who completes their 500 books will receive a prize at the end!

200 Books Before High School

The concept of the program is simple: read a book, any book, and have fun! The goal is to read 200 books before you start high school (and yes, you can repeat books).

Enrollment can begin at any time and for anyone not yet in High School, and you can complete the program at your own pace.

We'll offer small rewards for milestones throughout the challenge, and everyone who completes their 200 books will receive a prize at the end!

100 Books Before Graduation

This program encourages students to read 100 books before they graduate high school.

The concept of the program is simple: read a book, any book, and have fun!

Enrollment can begin at any time and for any high school student, and you can complete the program at your own pace.

Every student who completes their 100 books will receive a prize at the end!

PreK Color Our World - Books

This program is designed for children ages 0 to 4 to encourage life-long reading habits.

For this program, you'll record the individual books you read. For every 25 books, you'll earn a badge and a prize!

PreK Color Our World - Time

This program is designed for children ages 0 to 4 to encourage life-long reading habits.

For this program, you'll record the time you spend reading. For every 5 hours, you'll earn a badge and a prize!

Kids Color Our World - Books

This program is designed for kids aged 5 to 10 to encourage life-long reading habits.

For this program, you'll record the individual books you read. For every 20 books, you'll earn a badge and a prize!

Kids Color Our World - Time

This program is designed for kids aged 5 to 10 to encourage life-long reading habits.

For this program, you'll record the time you spend reading. For every 5 hours of reading, you'll earn a badge and a prize!

Tween/Teen Color Our World - Books

This program is designed for tweens and teens ages 11 to 17 to encourage life-long reading habits.

Record the individual books you read and earn a badge and a prize for every 5 books!

Tween/Teen Color Our World - Time

This program is designed for tweens and teens ages 11 to 17 to encourage life-long reading habits.

Record the time you spend reading and earn a badge and a prize for every 5 hours!

Adult Color Our World

We are so happy you signed up for the Adult Summer Reading Program at the Coweta Public Library! This program is designed for adults to encourage life-long reading habits.

For every ten books read, an adult participant will receive one prize and one additional entry into the drawing for the big prize at the end of the Summer Reading Program.

An adult can also submit a completed Bingo sheet for one prize.

This is the place for you to journal your personal reading adventures.

Read It, Watch It Challenge 2025

Over the course of 2024, you will be reading, watching, and hopefully discussing books and movies that fit the four prompts. (One book and it's movie per quarter.)

Pick a book that matches the prompt but also has a movie or TV adaptation. Read the book and then watch the movie. Next time you visit the library, feel free to discuss your book and movie choice with us! This challenge is fun to do with a friend.

January - March: Hybrid Genre

April - June: Includes a Wedding

July - September: A Character-driven Story

October - December: Published in a Year of the Dragon

Agatha Christie Mystery Reading Challenge

The goal is simply to read through Agatha Christie's mystery stories. You don't have to complete the challenge within one year.

Mental Health Reading Challenge

This challenge is simple. Read books on mental health.

Read books on the topic of mental health.
Books can be either fiction or non-fiction.
Print, audio, and e-books are accepted.

2025 Cover Lovers Reading Challenge

The 2025 Cover Lovers Reading Challenge is perfect for those that do judge books by their covers! In the library, you can find a list of the 50 prompts for this challenge.

How does 1000 Books work?

· Register Online Here – Parents you can create an account first to easily monitor your children's activity.

· Track Your Reading – Log every book you read with your child here!

· Keep Reading! – Prepare your child for kindergarten by reaching 1,000 books before they enter kindergarten.

Put reading first, with 20 minutes a day spent reading to your children.
Make it fun and exciting. Be imaginative.

If you read just 1 book a day, you will have read about 365 books in a year. That is 730 books in two years, and 1,095 books in just three years!
